Maintenance

The quote 'I am now a strong advocate for maintenance' was said to me by one of my patients recently, who sees me regularly for back pain. It made me smile, because regular maintenance of our bodies is an absolute must. People often think I go on about regular treatments, because it's a steady income for me. Well, that's true I can't deny...But the actual truth is, I go on about regular maintenance because I see the human body as a nice classic car. It needs regular TLC to keep it working right. My patient has recognised that, and knows without regular treatments she'll be in severe discomfort, and she never wants to experience that again. She also enjoys the time, for just her. It's an opportunity to chat about what's troubling her, and offload her stress, which is a bonus to having a treatment.

Burnt Out

Unfortunately, many people view self-care and maintenance as a luxury, rather than a priority. Consequently, they're left feeling overwhelmed, tired, and ill-equipped to handle life's inevitable challenges. Self-care is a conscious act, a person takes in order to look after their own physical, mental, and emotional health. It's important to understand how you're caring for yourself on a day to day basis not just when you are unwell, ultimately will benefit you long term so you can ensure you're caring for your mind, body, and spirit.

So next time you get the chance for regular self maintenance, take it. Your body and mind will thank you. 😊
