Smoking...
It's a serious business isn't it?
The tobacco industry thinks so, its been making billions since it's emergent popularity in the 1900s. Can you believe it was originally sold as a health benefit in its time to relax and calm, but everyone nowadays understands the false reality of that narrative.
The tobacco industry has become disgustingly rich on the back of hijacking people's health, and people are paying obscene amounts of money in the process - its that plain and simple, and what's also certain is that even in the early days, the advisors, chemists and scientific advisors knew of the harmful addictive side effects of nicotine, but it was still touted as being fashionable and cool to smoke.
So, yes, smoking is a serious business.
Maybe its time to have that serious conversation with yourself about the risk ... harm .... diseases....potential amputations... lung transplants and end of life..... Having to face the abyss of that final journey perhaps well before time.... Plus the fallout impacting your loved ones YOU leave behind...
Husbands, Wives, Partners, Sons, Daughters, Friends.
Lets not forget the finances here, at the time of posting this article. A packet of 20 cigarettes here in the UK is almost £12.00, so a person smokes 20 a day x 7 days a week = £84 a week which is a whopping £4368 a year just for the privilege of damaging their health and ending their lives early. WOW!
What could you do with £4368 a year? Probably quite alot and gain your health back... so its a double win not smoking!
It is a fact, that every single smoker or vaper plays russian roulette, with every single puff of poison into their bodies. Just one puff can be the trigger to cause a serious health issue which may lead to their death, and its not a peaceful death either. No, its a slow agonising painful process and you will feel like you are suffocating, because you cannot breath properly. You may even start haemorrhaging, because your lungs have collapsed which means bleeding out of your nose and mouth under massive hemoptysis.
Your family have to watch that, your children and those around you, have to watch that happening. Its not pretty, its actually truly horrific and your loved ones won't just have to watch that, but if it happens in your home they will have to clean up that blood up once you are gone. They will stare at that spot where you died, they will keeping finding spots of blood...weeks and months after you've gone and its a terrible reminder of what happend
Every single smoker is in denial of this happening, I know I've seen it. I have lost friends to smoking, and I know each and every one of them wished that they could turn back the clock, and quit smoking and turn their back's on denial
Smoking... is like a fake friend. It makes you feel comfortable and relaxed, and you may even look good. But all the while its stabbing you in the back, and robbing you of your health, vitality and money.
How many of us would choose friends like that? I certainly wouldn't, and now this is your chance now to tell that fake mate to take a hike.
Quitting...
Firstly, recognise that YOU want to quit for YOU, no one else, otherwise quitting smoking will fail.
Look at ways to deal with those cravings, if nicotine lozenges, patches, chewing gum, counselling, and other smoking cessation methods haven't helped you kick the habit, don't give up. The UK Government has some great resources so click here and there are other alternatives...
Acupuncture slows down the body's stress response, and can help curb your cravings for nicotine, especially in the earliest stages of withdrawal when you're also battling fatigue and irritability. Acupuncture can also affect your smoking by reducing the taste of tobacco and your desire to smoke.
My Acupuncture stop smoking program will consists of 1 to 6 treatments scheduled in the first few weeks, followed occasionally by monthly treatments if you need them.
Hypnotherapy is another alternative, during hypnosis for smoking cessation, the client is often asked to imagine unpleasant outcomes from smoking. For example, the hypnotherapist might suggest that cigarette smoke smells like truck exhaust, or that smoking will leave the patient's mouth feeling extremely parched. The hypnotherapist may also suggest things like:
- Smoking poisons the body
- You need your body to live
- You should respect your body and protect it (to the extent you'd like to live)
Hypnotherapy teaches the smoker self-hypnosis, and then asks them to repeat these affirmations anytime the desire to smoke occurs. Its usually very effective and maybe 1 or 2 treatments are required. You can opt to combine the Acupuncture and Hypnotherapy if you so wish.
